About Our School

Where every scholar thrives.

Founded in 2024 as part of Bard College’s national network, Bard High School Early College Brooklyn replaces the last two years of traditional high school with a rigorous, tuition-free college program in the liberal arts and sciences. Students graduate with up to 60 transferable college credits and an Associate in Arts degree—at no cost.

We believe adolescents are ready for college-level work, and our supportive environment nurtures intellectual curiosity, civic engagement, and a love of learning. Our graduates leave prepared to excel in four-year colleges, careers, and beyond.

A seamless pathway from high school to college, grounded in the liberal arts.

Early College Immersion

Students replace 11th and 12th grades with a tuition-free college curriculum, earning an Associate in Arts degree alongside their high school diploma. Courses are taught by Bard College faculty in a discussion-based, interdisciplinary format.

Our signature humanities program spans four semesters, engaging students with seminal texts from antiquity to modernity—Plato, Shakespeare, Woolf, and more—through critical reading, writing, and debate.

Writing & Thinking

A foundational workshop series that develops students’ critical reading and writing skills across disciplines. Through exercises like 'text explosions' and 'believing and doubting,' students learn to use writing as a tool for deeper thinking.
