About Our School

Founded in 2007 as a partnership between the NYC Department of Education, Columbia University, and the Harlem community, Columbia Secondary School serves 700+ academically talented students in grades 6–12. Our seven-year STEM sequence—from middle-school explorations to high-school research internships—prepares students for college and careers in science, engineering, and beyond.
We believe in science as a way of seeing the world, and we foster a diverse, inclusive community where curiosity, creativity, and civic responsibility flourish.

From 6th-grade explorations to 12th-grade research internships, our vertically-aligned STEM curriculum challenges students to ask big questions, design experiments, and solve real-world problems.
