About Our School

Where every child belongs.

Founded on the belief that small schools create big opportunities, Lower Manhattan Community Middle School has served Manhattan’s Community District 2 for over 20 years. Our progressive, arts-rich curriculum challenges students in grades 6–8 to explore essential questions, collaborate across differences, and develop their unique talents—all while building a strong sense of community.

At LMC, we believe that middle school should be a time of discovery, creativity, and connection. Through our five full-time arts teachers, students dive into music, visual arts, dance, digital media, and theater, while our advisory program ensures every student has a trusted adult advocate and a small group of peers to navigate the middle school journey together.
