About Our School
Where every student finds their sea legs.
Founded in 2003 on Governors Island, New York Harbor School offers a rigorous college-prep curriculum paired with eight NYSED-approved Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs in maritime and environmental fields.
We believe in learning by doing—whether it’s operating boats, designing underwater robots, or restoring oyster reefs with the Billion Oyster Project, our students gain real-world skills that launch them into college and careers.

Eight CTE pathways that turn passion into profession.
Marine Biology Research
Students conduct hands-on research in New York Harbor, monitoring water quality, studying marine ecosystems, and contributing to the Billion Oyster Project’s restoration efforts.
